Scary Quilts

Not really scary. More like fun. I've been working on the stitch-outs for the Halloween quilt some friends and I are hoping to put together. We're mainly using designs in the Halloween pack from Anita Goodesign but I'm adding additional embroidery because I want my quilt to be larger than the prescribed 37" square. Here's how it's looking on the design board so far.

So, I'm looking for Halloween quotations to embroider as a fill-in. I think I've settled on a couple of short poems and these two quotes:
When witches go riding, and black cats are seen, the moon laughs and whispers, ‘tis near Halloween. -19th century Halloween postcard

'Tis now the very witching time of night, When churchyards yawn and hell itself breathes out Contagion to this world. -William Shakespeare

Shadows of a thousand years rise again unseen, Voices whisper in the trees, "Tonight is Halloween!" - Dexter Kozen

Embroidered in black on the bright lime green background, they should make a striking contrast with the orange, purple, black and white embroidery already finished.

I'm a sewaholic.

My name is Mary Alice and I'm a sewaholic. I've been sewing for what seems to be all my life. Most recently, I've been making quilts. I have no idea how many quilts I've made over the last three years and I have no idea how many UFO's (unfinished projects) I have in my stash. I recognize that I am addicted to all sorts of sewing, including but not limited to, garment sewing, machine embroidery and quilting. But I'm not looking for a cure. I'm enjoying every minute of it.

I've developed a fondness for the Turning Twenty Around the Block quilt pattern. I've used it for several quilts, most recently tomake gifts for three of my sisters. The green TTAB quilt below is for my sister, Barbara.

I've been trying to get all the sewing and quilting done on my Knitters for Obama Fundraiser offering. I finished the embroidery and piecing yesterday. Now to find something for the backing. I hope to load the quilt into the frame by the end of the week. It'll be quilted by next week!

The Photostitch design of Barack has around 45,000 stitches and took over 131 minutes to sew out. It was digitized using Brother PEDesign Version 7. The original photograph was in black and white; the embroidery design uses 7 shades of thread, from white to black.
You can see the other embroidered blocks at my flickr account.
